If you take a look at Apple’s current iPad Pro lineup, the 11-inch model starts at $799 while the larger 12.9-inch model starts at $1,099. Those models were last updated in October 2022, and since none of the iPads were updated last year, the iPad Pro is certainly due for an upgrade. We’ve seen slower sales for the iPad in the past few years, so it’s a great chance for Apple to introduce a huge leap in hardware for the iPad Pro.Â
We’ve been expecting both iPad Pro models to adopt OLED displays for the first time, which implies a price hike for both models. Earlier reports have indicated that the smaller iPad Pro model could be priced at around $1,500, and the larger model could be priced at around $1,800. Those prices are exorbitantly higher than their current starting prices respectively.
However, an uncited source reported to DigiTimes that the price hikes wouldn’t be as high as other reports suggested. Instead, we could see a $160 price increase across both models. This would make more sense. Back in 2020, when Apple moved from LCD on the iPhone 11 to OLED on the iPhone 12, Apple bumped the price by $100 (if you look at just the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 model). With that said, the starting prices for the upcoming iPad Pro models will likely be the following:
- The current 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799; the next 11-inch iPad Pro could start at ~$999 – a $200 increase.
- The current 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,099; the next 13-inch iPad Pro could start at ~$1,199 or $1,299 – a $100-$200 increase.
Consider the 11-inch iPad Pro currently has an LCD panel, and the 12.9-inch model currently has a mini-LED panel, which is a more advanced version of an LCD panel. Therefore, the price hike will probably be smaller for the 12.9-inch model if you consider going from mini-LED to OLED, whereas on the 11-inch model, you’re getting a huge upgrade from LCD to OLED.
