Opinion: My plan on streaming the 2024 Super Bowl in 4K

Avatar for David Becker

Last weekend, I was able to buy myself my first ever 4K TV from Best Buy. It was a decision that I pondered and researched for weeks.

Since it is a 4K TV though, it has enabled me with the ability to stream this year’s Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs live and in 4K thanks to CBS, the games broadcaster, for showing it in that quality.

But when it comes to my whole streaming setup, here is how I will personally be streaming the game in 4K this year.

My 2024 Super Bowl Streaming Setup:

  • LG 50-inch Class UQ75 Series LED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV: This is the top part of it all because without it, streaming the big game in 4K quality would not even be an option.

  • Apple TV 4K: I own the third generation version of the Apple TV 4K and it was one of my top Apple product purchases of 2023. It’s the streaming device I will be using on my new LG 4K TV to stream the game on. Yes, my new TV does have smart apps on it, but everyone knows the software on those are not the best and can lag quite a bit. Plus, I trust tvOS as my go-to for streaming on my big screen.

  • fuboTV: Without this, I would not be able to stream the game in 4K from my 4K TV. fuboTV, along with others, is providing the CBS 4K channel for its users today so they can stream the Super Bowl in 4K.

Also, I know it’s not tech-related as much, but if anyone is wondering what snacks and drinks I’ll be having during the game, my snack food (not my actual dinner, just snacks) will be Jammie Dodgers (yes, they do sell them here in America) and a bottle of Mountain Dew. It’s not much, but it will suffice for me.
