Apple rolls out macOS Sonoma 14.4 with new features and bug fixes

Apple has started rolling out macOS Sonoma 14.4 to the public with new features bug fixes, and more. This update comes almost a month after the release of macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 which addressed a text overlapping bug. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every 14.x update whilst also fixing security issues.

Here’s what’s new according to the Release Notes:

“macOS Sonoma 14.4 introduces new emoji as well as other features, bug fixes and security updates for your Mac.

Emoji

Ӣ New mushroom, phoenix, lime, broken chain and shaking heads emoji are now available in emoji keyboard

Ӣ 18 people and body emoji support facing the opposite direction

This update also includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

Ӣ Podcasts Episode text can be read in full, searched for a word or phrase, clicked to play from a specific point, and used with accessibility features such as Text Size, Increase Contrast and VoiceOver

Ӣ Safari Favourites Bar adds an option to show only icons for websites

Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.

This update also addresses 64 security vulnerabilities with Sandbox, Siri, Shortcuts, System Settings, Safari, RTKit, WebKit, and more.

macOS Sonoma is compatible with the following Mac models:

  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
  • iMac (2019 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac mini (2018 and later)
  • Mac Studio (2022 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

In addition to macOS Sonoma 14.4, Apple has also released macOS Ventura 13.6.5 and macOS Monterey 12.7.4 for Macs running on older versions of macOS.
