This week, Apple has launched Tap to Pay on iPhone in Chile and the United Arab Emirates, enabling merchants to accept contactless payments through a supporting iOS app on an iPhone Xs or later running the latest iOS version.
At checkout, the merchant will prompt the customer to hold their contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, or Apple Watch, or other digital wallet near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology. Tap to Pay also supports all of the leading payment methods such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
In Chile, SumUp is the first payment platform to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone for merchants.
In the United Arab Emirates, Adyen, Magnati, and Network International are the first payment platforms to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone.
This feature is currently available in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
