It has been announced that the FOX-owned ad-supported streaming service Tubi will be providing a free stream of this year’s Super Bowl.
This is a surprise move given the recent years of streaming services.
Last year, the Super Bowl aired on CBS and the cheapest way to stream that game live was through Paramount+, and in 2022, the Super Bowl aired on NBC and streamed live on Peacock. However, fans did have to pay for Paramount+ and Peacock subscriptions in order to stream those games live without a cable or satellite, or live TV streaming service subscription.
On top of Tubi providing a free livestream of this year’s Super Bowl, it will also be providing the stream with 4K support. This means that those with a device like an Apple TV 4K and a TV that has 4K support will be available to stream the game live in stunning 4K resolution.
The Super Bowl has been streamed in 4K before in both 2023 (FOX) and 2024 (CBS). In fact, FOX was the first ever network to broadcast the Super Bowl in 4K when it did so for Super Bowl LIV back in 2019.
Additionally, FOX will be airing one of the upcoming NFL Divisional Playoff games this weekend in 4K too. The network has aired previous college football games in 4K during this past regular season, and will continue to do so this month for select college basketball games.
We do not know the exact teams just yet, but the Super Bowl will air live on FOX and stream on Tubi on Sunday, February 9.
