Apple today announced the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, AirPods Pro 3, Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 at its “Awe Dropping event”, which lasted for a total of 1 Hour and 10 minutes. This year, Apple has brought some of the most requested features to the base iPhone 17, and introduced an even better Pro iPhone, along with the thin iPhone Air.

Apple had to make way for these new 2025 iPhone models by discontinuing the sale of older iPhones. Every year, Apple stops selling the Pro variant of the previous year’s iPhone once the newer Pro models are announced. Well, this year it is no different. Apple has stopped selling the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max and replaced them with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

If you really wish to purchase an iPhone 16 Pro model, you’d have to take the third-party route till their stocks last. Now that the iPhone 17 Pro is out, you might find the 2024 Pro models at a discounted rate at third-party stores. However, if the discount is really negligible, it’s better to spend a little extra to get the latest iPhone with new hardware.

Additionally, the sale of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus has been discontinued by Apple, which used to cost $599 before today’s launch.

If Apple were to keep the iPhone 15, they would need to price it at $599, leading to competition with the iPhone 16e, also priced at $599. With a modern design, the iPhone 15 was bound to win, leaving the iPhone 16e with lower sales.

Here’s how the current iPhone lineup and pricing look:

  • iPhone 16e (128GB): $599
  • iPhone 16 (128GB): $699
  • iPhone 16 Plus (128GB): $799
  • iPhone 17 (256GB): $799
  • iPhone Air (256GB): $999
  • iPhone 17 Pro (256GB): $1,099
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max (256GB): $1199

Moreover, Apple is only offering the 128GB Storage option for the regular-sized iPhone 16 model.

The iPhone 17 will be available in five new finishes, including lavender, mist blue, sage, white, and black, while the Air will be available in Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black. The new Pro models will be available in three elegant finishes: Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue. The iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be available to Pre-order on September 12th starting at 5 a.m. PT, and they will be available starting September 19th.

The iPhone 17 series is a significant step forward in terms of mobile technology and Apple will continue to improve its iPhone lineup every year. Which model are you planning to get?
