London thieves clearly prefer iPhone over Android, according to some stories

If you’re traveling around the world, the last thing you want to happen is to get your smartphone pickpocketed by thieves, and London is one of the most populous cities in the world. Sure, it’s the home of Doctor Who, Paddington, Ted Lasso, and Mr. Bean, but there could be thieves lurking around to snatch your valuables. However, if you’re still an Android user for some reason, you may feel luckier. There have been some stories about thieves robbing other people’s smartphones, only for the perpetrators to return the devices to the victims when they realize they stole an Android. Here’s a story of an incident shared in an excerpt from the London Centric:

The thieves took Sam’s phone, his camera and even the beanie hat off his head. After checking Sam had nothing else on him, they started to run off.

What happened next was a surprise. With most of the gang already heading down the Old Kent Road, one turned around and handed Sam back his Android phone.

The thief bluntly told him why: “Don’t want no Samsung.”

The message has become more apparent: more people prefer iPhones over Androids, and the reason is simple. Apple’s unparalleled ecosystem and tightly integration/optimizations, including full control over the hardware, software, and silicon, makes iPhone even more desirable than ever before. In fact, the resale value for iPhone just tops that of any Android smartphone in a landslide, and even more recently, with the launch of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, Apple is seeing a stronger quarter in terms of revenue as demand for the iPhone skyrockets. Even better, the base iPhone 17 proves to be a much better value as it brings several new features that were exclusive to the Pro models as it brings the upgraded Center Stage camera, 120Hz ProMotion technology, and the Always-On display. For most people, the base iPhone 17 is more than enough, and Android fans just can’t say anything bad about that phone because Apple made it too good.

So if you’re in the market for an iPhone, I would highly recommend the base iPhone 17 for most people, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign up for AppleCare One for loss and theft protection just in case.
