A few days ago, Bloomberg reported a rumor that Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior VP of hardware technologies, was considering leaving Apple, which would be the next executive to step down from Apple following the company’s major executive transitions. However, in a follow-up report, Srouji denied this rumor, saying that he enjoys working at Apple, and he doesn’t see himself working for another company anytime soon. The same source even obtained his memo as stated below:
I know you’ve been reading all kind of rumors and speculations about my future at Apple, and I feel that you need to hear from me directly. I am proud of the amazing Technologies we all build across Displays, Cameras, Sensors, Silicon, Batteries, and a very wide set of technologies, across all of Apple Products. Together we enable the best products in the world. I love my team, and I love my job at Apple, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
Srouji has played a significant role at Apple since he joined the company in 2008 to lead development of the original iPad’s A4 chip, which was Apple’s first in-house system-on-a-chip, and that undeniably marked the birth of Apple Silicon that would eventually power all of Apple’s hardware product categories from iPhone/iPad to even the entire Mac lineup. The amazing advancements in Apple Silicon would not simply be possible under Srouji’s leadership, as Apple continues to bring solid improvements in overall performance/efficiency in each iteration. The recent chips that Apple announced (A19, A19 Pro, and M5) feature neural accelerators in the GPU cores to enable substantial improvements in graphics performance, particularly the improved third-generation ray tracing.
With that said, you can finally put those concerns to rest as Srouji does a phenomenal job in leading one of Apple’s major departments.
