Apple launched its Apple Creator Studio bundle earlier this week, and it was generally well-received by reviewers. However, with this week’s launch, Apple quietly stopped distributing its ‘Pro Apps Bundle for Education’ (archived link) separately on its online store. Instead, you could still get this bundle when you order a Mac from Apple’s online Education Store. For those who don’t prefer paying periodically to access software, this suite is a one-time purchase, and it bundles Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage at a significant discount for just $199.99 (USD). If you were to purchase all of these apps individually, it would cost $629.95, so you’d save over $400 if you went with the bundle.
If you have already purchased the bundle beforehand, consider yourself lucky, as you may continue to use the software as you paid for it once, and it’s yours forever – you own the software. Speaking of bundles, this ‘Pro Apps’ bundle reminds me of another bundle that Apple sold a long time ago…more on that later.
Today, Apple Creator Studio is Apple’s latest subscription service that takes on Adobe Creative Cloud. It bundles many of its pro creativity applications made for the Mac, and also provides access to iPad versions of most of those aforementioned applications, such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. It also includes premium features with “intelligent features” on productivity apps: Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and, later this year, Freeform.
All customers may be lucky enough to try Apple Creator Studio with an extended 3-month trial, and college students and educators can get this bundle for just $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year after their trial ends.
