Apple has started rolling out iOS 16.7.14 and iPadOS 16.7.14 to the public with bug fixes. These updates are aimed towards users with older devices that do not support the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS 26, such as the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

According to the Release Notes for iOS 16.7.14:

“This update provides important bug fixes and is recommended
for all users. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/100100

This update also brings a fix to a critical issue, where Telstra users in Australia were unable to connect to the network, which impacted emergency calls, as noted by MacRumors. According to Telstra, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X models that were updated to iOS 16.7.13 were facing this issue. Apple did pull iOS 16.7.13 after this issue was discovered and released a carrier update.

If you have already installed iOS/iPadOS 26 on your device, you will NOT see this update. If you have chosen to stay on an older version and not upgrade to version 26, you will still be able to install timely security updates like these.

The said devices were launched in 2017 with iOS 11. While Apple ended support for these devices with iOS 16, it is simply amazing to see them provide such updates to date for devices that are almost 9 years old, making Apple a clear winner in terms of Security & Software updates.

It does not seem like this update contains any security fixes, as Apple has not revealed any.

It is highly recommended to update your iPhone and iPad to the latest software for the best experience and security. Did you find any features in these updates?
