Apple is rumored to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro models this coming September, and according to a known Weibo leaker, “Digital Chat Station,” Apple will raise the bar again in delivering class-leading battery life with its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max, which is expected to have a battery capacity of 5,100 to 5,200 mAh. Combined with the improved energy efficiency on the upcoming A20 chip, which will use a 2nm process, that smartphone will certainly deliver even longer battery life. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be thicker to make room for a larger battery, which seems to now be an acceptable tradeoff for those who want longer battery life. After all, Apple started to put function over form with its iPhone 17 Pro models and vice versa with its iPhone Air.
If we take a look at the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it has the biggest battery even on an iPhone at 5,088 mAh. Even a recent test conducted by CNET concluded that the iPhone 17 Pro Max took the crown for having the best battery life. Although other competitors that were in the test had larger batteries in terms of capacity, thanks to the efficiency and optimizations in Apple Silicon, particularly the A19 Pro chip, the iPhone 17 Pro Max still ranks at the top in that department.
Additionally, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to feature class-leading battery life as well, with a battery that could be over 5,500 mAh in capacity, even beating that of the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s. With that size for a battery, Apple might as well call its foldable iPhone the “iPhone Ultra,” and that foldable can easily beat the competition in having tremendous battery life in that product category.
We expect Apple to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro models and the “iPhone Ultra” this coming September with the A20 Pro chip and the C2 cellular modem. This is shaping up to be Apple’s most exciting year yet.
