Apple has started rolling out iOS 26.5.1 to the public, with the new build number being 23F81. This update comes three weeks after the release of iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 to the public, which included a new Pride Luminance Wallpaper, End-to-End Encrypted RCS, Suggested Places in Maps, and more.
This update is expected to bring more stability and a better experience for iPhone 17 and iPhone Air users running previous versions, as it fixes a key issue related to charging. According to Apple’s Release Notes, “This update addresses an issue for a small number of users that may prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly drained.”
Do note that this update is ONLY available for iPhone 17 and iPhone Air models. The latest software version available for other iOS 26 supported devices is still iOS 26.5.
Apple keeps refining the software experience with every update, whilst also fixing security issues. However, Apple has not published any CVE entries on its Security Update webpage, which could suggest that this update is simply for fixing one bug. Moreover, if it had any security updates, Apple would have released it for all supported iPhones rather than having it limited to just the latest models.
As expected, iOS 26.5.1 does not include any new Apple Intelligence features or any new notable features, and we can now expect new AI features only with the release of the betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and more, which are set to be revealed in June at WWDC 2026, with the public debut in September.
