Apple has started rolling out macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 to the public, with the new build number being 25F80. This update comes three weeks after the release of macOS Tahoe 26.5 to the public, which included a new power control setting for some Macs, End-to-end encrypted RCS messaging with Android devices in Messages, and more.

This update is expected to bring more stability and a better experience for enterprise Mac users running previous versions, as it fixes a key issue related to unexpected shutdowns. According to Apple’s Release Notes, “This update addresses an issue for enterprise users where Mac computers with an M5 chip could unexpectedly shut down when using certain content filtering network extensions.”

Unlike iOS 26.5.1, which was also released today, macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 is available to download and install on all supported Macs, and not just the M5 variants, including:

  • MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
  • MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
  • MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019) with an Intel chipset
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) with an Intel chipset
  • MacBook Neo (2026)
  • iMac (2020 and later)
  • Mac mini (2020 and later)
  • Mac Studio (2022 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

Apple keeps refining the software experience with every update, whilst also fixing security issues. However, Apple has not published any CVE entries on its Security Update webpage, which could suggest that this update is simply for fixing this bug.

As expected, macOS 26.5.1 does not include any new notable features or any new Apple Intelligence features. We can now expect new AI features only with the release of the betas of macOS 27, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and more, which are set to be revealed on June 8th at WWDC 2026, with the public debut in September.
