Today at WWDC 2026, Apple introduced the next iteration of its iPhone software, iOS 27. iOS 27 brings several requested features to the iPhone, including changes to Liquid Glass, a new Siri, improvements to Apple Intelligence, and more.

Here’s what’s new:

  1. Liquid Glass Adjustment Slider: Yes, you read that right. Apple has finally added an adjustment slider to control the intensity of Liquid Glass according to your liking. Apple previously added new ‘Clear’ and ‘Tinted’ options in iOS 26, but the control was far from the slider introduced today.

  2. Siri 2.0 powered by Apple Intelligence: With iOS 27, macOS 27, and more, Siri has improved significantly with multiple new features and capabilities, including the ones announced before in 2024. According to Apple, Siri AI is an entirely new version of Siri deeply integrated into iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. It can draw on personal context understanding to search across messages, emails, photos, and more, and get things done across apps with even more systemwide app actions. Additionally, Siri AI can answer questions related to the content on a user’s screen or go out to the web to get up-to-date information using broad world knowledge and generate a helpful answer. A dedicated Siri app allows users to revisit a past conversation or kick off a new one — all in one place — and uses iCloud to privately sync conversational history across a user’s products.
The next generation of Apple Intelligence powers tremendous new features in apps across the system. In Photos, Spatial Reframing enables users to improve the composition of a photo after it’s been taken.

In addition to Siri AI, the next generation of Apple Intelligence powers tremendous new features in apps across the system to simplify the things users do every day, like editing images in Photos, browsing across multiple tabs in Safari, expressing creativity with Image Playground, communicating in Messages and Mail, and so much more.”

Along with this, a new Siri app has also been launched for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and more.

  3. Screen Time: This essential feature is receiving a much-needed upgrade, with newer advanced features like Time Allowances for each category of usage, and Screen Time Schedule, which allows parents to manage screen time limits based on specific times of the day and allows them to customize it for weekends.

4. New Editing options in Photos: On devices supported with Apple Intelligence with the new version, users will have a better experience with the Clean up tool. Along with this, Apple has added a new extend option for photos, which uses AI to generate a broader frame. Moreover, a new Spatial Reframing option has also been introduced, allowing users to have further control even after a photo is taken.

5. iCloud Shared Albums: Users from other platforms like Android will be able to contribute to iCloud shared albums with the new update.

6. Custom EQ on AirPods: Users running iOS 27 will be able to customize the EQ on the AirPods. It is currently unclear as to which AirPods will support this feature. We will provide an update regarding the same.

7. Last but not least, Better Performance: Apple has improved iOS 27 to have a more refined, faster, smoother performance. According to Apple, “iPhone and iPad apps launch up to 30 percent faster,1 photos load up to 70 percent faster after being taken,2 and AirDrop transfers are up to 80 percent faster.3 During network transitions, moving between cellular and Wi-Fi networks is more seamless than ever, and browsing and transferring files between external drives and iPad is up to 5x faster — making it just as fast as Finder on Mac.4 In Spotlight, Photos, and Mail, the search experience has been rebuilt to make it more stable and efficient to help users find exactly what they are looking for. And in Mail, a completely new ranking system surfaces even more relevant results in Top Hits.”

iOS 27 is set to be released alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series this fall. Are you thrilled about this new update? Show us your excitement down in the comments or tweet to us on @appleosophy!
