Today, Apple announced the next iteration of its software platforms: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Tahoe 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 to developers. These updates include improvements to Liquid Glass, a new Siri AI, new Screen Time options, and more, announced at today’s WWDC event. Along with these features, Apple has finally introduced the custom equalizer feature for AirPods after a long wait, allowing users to fine-tune the sound balance and adjust bass, treble, mids, and more to their liking. It is currently unclear as to which AirPods will support this feature, but it seems like Apple needs to release a new AirPods firmware update for this feature to work, as it is currently not live.

Along with this, Apple has revamped the AirPods Settings interface to organize options into sections and features a volume control for the first time. Here’s how it looks:

Despite the new interface, there is still no way to manually update the AirPods firmware.

Apple might release a new beta firmware update for the AirPods soon to bring Custom EQ, although do note that once updated to the beta, the only way of going back to a stable release is by taking it to Apple.
