At WWDC 2026 last month, Apple announced the next iteration of its software platforms: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Tahoe 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 to developers. These updates include improvements to Liquid Glass, a new Siri AI, new Screen Time options, and more. The highlight of the new software falls upon the new AI features, including new Photo Editing options, a more natural Siri, Agentic Password updating, improved Image Playground, Personal Context, and more.
Most of these features require the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 17, along with iPads and Macs with Apple Silicon, all of which come with 8GB of RAM. However, some more advanced features such as Advanced Dictation and Expressive Siri Voices only support devices with at least 12GB of RAM, as they are capable of running Apple’s most powerful on-device model. These devices include:
- iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air
- iPad with M4 and later with at least 12GB of RAM
- Mac with M3 and later with at least 12GB of RAM
While Expressive Voices was available in the first two betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, the ability to control the pace and expressivity was still not enabled, and the options were grayed out. With the release of Beta 3 today, testers can finally adjust Siri’s voice to their liking. To use this feature, testers can go to Settings>Siri to make sure that ‘Expressive Voices Preview’ is enabled and move forward with the adjustments.
The adjustments that you make will affect the voice of Siri system-wide, including Maps, Safari, and the Announce Notifications with AirPods feature.
Do note that these versions are not stable and are meant for testing purposes. They are not recommended to be downloaded on a primary device due to the nature of beta software.
