Back in January, OpenAI announced ChatGPT Health, which allowed users to connect ChatGPT to Apple Health, Function, MyFitnessPal, and more. At launch, the feature was only available to select users who signed up for the waitlist in the U.S.
With today’s announcement, the feature is now rolling out more widely in the U.S. starting today.
How does Apple Health Data integrate with ChatGPT?
According to OpenAI, “You can choose to securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records so ChatGPT can help you understand your information in context, keep track of what has changed, and have more informed, personalized conversations. The experience builds on feedback from early testers and gives you control over what you connect and when ChatGPT can use it.”
“With your permission, ChatGPT can now draw on relevant information you’ve connected in Health to help you compare a new result with prior tests, summarize changes since your last appointment, or explore how sleep, activity, and workouts relate to your routine. This can reduce the need to repeatedly gather, upload, or explain the same details, helping you feel more informed, ask better questions, and take a more active role in your health while supporting, not replacing, the care you receive from medical professionals.”

OpenAI claims that more than 300 million users ask ChatGPT about their health metrics, and they have made that experience even better now since all the data can be linked directly to ChatGPT. OpenAI also claims that “connected medical records and Apple Health information, and conversations that use it, are not used to train our foundation models or target ads”
For the feature to work, you need to be signed in with your ChatGPT account in the U.S. on your web or on your iOS device and be 18 and older. The service does not seem to be live on Android yet. The feature can be accessed from the sidebar and is rolling out on most ChatGPT plans today, including the Free plan, but leaves out the Teams plan for now.
Even though GPT 5.6 is powerful, it is still an AI that can make mistakes and is not a replacement for actual medical assistance.
Along with Apple Health, OpenAI also offers integration with Apple Music, which helps users create playlists using AI.
