Apple today announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at its “Surprise and shine” event, along with the long-awaited foldable, the iPhone Duo, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Ultra 4. The iPhone 18 Pro brings a much-awaited smaller Dynamic Island, a Variable Aperture Main Camera, a larger battery, a more efficient A20 Pro chipset, and more battery capacity.
As noted by MacRumors, Apple has revealed the exact battery capacity on its EU product pages for models with the physical SIM slot. The iPhone 18 Pro comes with a 4056 mAh battery compared to 3988 mAh on the 17 Pro, while the Pro Max has a 5391 mAh battery compared to 4823 mAh on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
It looks like the iPhone 18 Pro Max received a substantial increase in physical battery capacity, with it offering up to 43 hours of video playback, up from 37 hours on the iPhone 17 Pro Max on physical SIM models. The iPhone 18 Pro, on the other hand, is rated to offer up to 34 hours of video playback, up from 31 hours on the iPhone 17 Pro on physical SIM models.
Pairing the larger battery capacity with an efficient A20 Pro chip based on a 2nm architecture, along with a C2 modem for cellular connectivity, will result in amazing battery life on the iPhone 18 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro Max lacks the C2 modem, which is surprising.
Charging has been upgraded too, with it providing up to 50% charge in just 15 minutes when using a 60W adapter with Adjustable Voltage Supply. Apple already offers a 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max, which is capable of achieving these speeds.
In terms of pricing, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, $1,399 for 512GB, $1,799 for 1TB, and $2,399 for 2TB. The 2TB variant is new on the smaller Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro Max, on the other hand, starts at $1,299 for 256GB, $1,499 for 512GB, $1,899 for 1TB, and $2,499 for 2TB. The price hikes are lower than expected for with the base model being $100 more expensive rather than $200-$300, which was previously rumored.
The phone comes in four new finishes: Black, Silver, Glacier, and a new Burgundy colour. Pre-orders will begin on September 12th, starting at 5:00 a.m. PT, and the iPhone 18 Pro will be available on September 25th.
