Instacart

Since I am in a new home that is Des Moines, Iowa, I am now getting fully obsessed with fast-food and grocery delivery services.

Yesterday was my first time trying out Instacart. This is a service I have been waiting at least a couple of years to use ever since it was first launched in my hometown of Sioux City, Iowa.

The first thing that I liked about using the service is the interface of its iPhone and iPad apps is incredible. We’re talking as if someone really went out of their way to create a logical and easy to use interface.

When I did place my order, which was about 15 items, I was immediately given a notification that it would delivered around 2:45 p.m. that same day. However, after my shopper could not find a couple items in the grocery store, they sent me a message through the Instacart app, asking if I would like a replacement item or for it to be refunded.

This is a great way so that customers don’t get screwed or make them feel as though the shopper purposely did not put an item in their order. It holds the shopper accountable for their actions because this feature exists.

Although there was a slight delay that moved my delivery time to about 3:20, I have no issues with this. If the shopper has any issues finding items that I ask for, not to mention the traffic of being in the capital of Iowa, I completely understand.

Some might find the timing of your delivery to be an issue, but I personally was not starving and could wait, therefore, that is why it was not a big deal for someone like myself.

Another two features that I did like about Instacart are its delivery windows with as short of time as two hours or less (at no extra cost to you) and that it accepts Apple Pay as a payment method.

Of course, Apple Card users will be able to get 2% in Daily Cash on each order they make through the service.

Now, when I did get my orders delivered to my home, I was asleep, but I know they came on time because of the app telling me what time they were delivered to my doorstep. If anything, I was glad that the person who delivered my groceries did not disturb my nap.

When it is all said and done, this experience gets 4/4 stars from me. It’s simple, convenient and I don’t even have to leave my home to do anything. I’m essentially outsourcing one of my most annoying chores and having no regrets about it.

Rating: 4/4 stars
