Ten extra dollars. That’s what changed on Apple’s repair pricing page this week, spotted first by MacRumors. Out-of-warranty battery replacements for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max now run $129, up from the $119 rate that’s held steady since the iPhone 16 Pro launched.
The reason isn’t hard to guess. Apple’s own EU specs show both new batteries got noticeably bigger. The Pro jumped from 3,988 mAh to 4,056 mAh. The Pro Max climbed even further, from 4,823 mAh all the way to 5,391 mAh. More battery, more material, more cost to swap it out; that math tracks.
Worth noting: $129 isn’t necessarily what you’ll pay. Apple’s language is careful here, saying it’ll “inspect your device to determine the final service fee.” Consider it a starting point, not a promise. And if you’ve got AppleCare+, none of this applies anyway. Batteries drop below 80% capacity, Apple replaces them for free. Check that number anytime under Settings, Battery, Battery Health.
Battery repairs are just one line on a longer sheet, though. Crack the back glass on a Pro model, that’s $159. Rear camera damage runs $249. A busted screen jumps to $329, and if you manage to break both the screen and back glass together, you’re looking at $419. Anything weirder than that gets lumped into “other damage” at $849.
Pro Max owners pay slightly more in a few spots. Screen damage there costs $379 instead of $329. Combined screen and back glass damage hits $469. And “other damage” tops out at $899, fifty dollars above the standard Pro.
None of this touches anyone under warranty or AppleCare+, obviously. But if you’re buying a Pro model without extra coverage and planning to keep it a few years, these are the numbers worth remembering now, long before a battery ever starts wearing down.
