Apple’s line of AirPods, first introduced in 2016 alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are set to receive a nice update next year, which should include wireless charging and “Hey Siri” support.
In 2017, alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, Apple previewed that we would be receiving wireless-charging support with an optional wireless-charging case, however that feature has been “currently unavailable” for over a year since AirPower has not been released, and Apple has not made any statement regarding AirPower to the public.
At this point, we are unsure if AirPower will release alongside the AirPower wireless charging mat and AirPods wireless charging case, but recent reports claim that AirPower development is still in progress, according to new code in iOS 12 beta 5 and iOS 12.1.
Long-time Apple analyst M. Kuo claims that in 2020, Apple will launch a complete redesign of the AirPods model, but details are limited at this time.
Do you use AirPods, and what is your favorite thing about them? It is still safe to buy a pair of AirPods for Christmas, as they are still an excellent buy, in Late 2018.
