The Best Macs for Blogging

Are you wanting to start a blog or continue managing your blog over the summer, but are in the market for a new MacBook? Well, here are some of the best MacBooks just for blogging purposes.

The reason why I say MacBook and not a product like an iMac is that blogging is one of those things where if you really want to stay up to date on it and manage it properly, you’re going to want a MacBook because they are mobile and can be taken on the go or while on vacation. If you’re a true blogger, you will be blogging on the go and not just by tweeting (Twitter is technically a microblogging service).

  • 12-inch MacBook: This is the thinnest of all the Macs on the market right now. Spec wise, this is going to be perfect for blogging with an Intel Core M processor and 8GB of RAM. Also, this MacBook will have the new butterfly mechanism keyboard that Apple debuted in 2015.
  • 13-inch MacBook Air: If you want a bigger screen or don’t want the butterfly mechanism keyboard, this is a great substitute, and pretty great for the price! Along with the slim form factor, it’s going to very portable. But along with that, the new MacBook Air does come with 8GB of RAM as the new standard for the laptop. The laptop will still be able to run programs like Microsoft Word 2016 and photoshop.
  • 11-inch MacBook Air: Although the laptop was discontinued by Apple in 2016, it’s still a great way to blog in 2017. This version of the MacBook Air will not come with an SD card, so you’re better off getting a cheap USB adapter for it if you plan to use an SD card often. There are still plenty of sellers online that sell them refurbished. The 11-inch MacBook Air only comes with 4GB of RAM (but can be found with 8GB of RAM if you look hard enough) so it will still be able to run programs like Pages or Microsoft Word 2016, but in my experience, Word 2016 will run slow on it.
  • 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro without TouchBar: Now, this laptop is best for what I like to call “power bloggers.” These are bloggers that are constantly blogging/writing and need to get the most powerful machine out there. Unfortunately for those bloggers, this MacBook Pro only has USB-C ports, so a dongle with other ports will be required if you plan to use anything that is not USB-C compatible. But still, this laptop does have an Intel i5 processor with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, which I think is ideal for bloggers; something thin and powerful. It will be able to run programs like Word 2016 and photoshop well, as well as video editing software like Final Cut Pro. Again, this is only for bloggers that really need the most out of a laptop.

Blogging is still very much alive in 2017 and will be around for years to come. Be sure that if you are in the market for a new MacBook like the ones mentioned above, that you shop and buy them at Best Buy. Best Buy typically has better sales on them than what Apple will provide. Of course, shopping through refurbished and reseller sites is not bad either.
