You would think that in 2020, there would not be an app that has channels available for free, or at least not a legal one. That is where Live Player surprises you and its users.
Where the app works well is its ability to get almost every single channel that you can think of. I have personally used the app to stream channels such as FOX and BBC America.
The app has worked for me to watch reruns of both How I Met Your Mother on a local FOX station and Doctor Who on BBC America.
This right here could be a great app for those who are looking to cut the cord and get away from cable and satellite. It’s a free app and provides free streams, and since it is in the App Store right now, it is legal to do. Think of it as people who provided streams back in the day on the UStream website and app.
I have had issues getting other networks and stations, so it is not a solution that will solve all cord-cutting issues. There is also the issue of getting the app to AirPlay to an Apple TV. to do this, there are in-app purchases users will have to make in order to get it to AirPlay to an Apple TV, as well as eliminate all ads on the app too.
The prices for those in-app purchases are the following:
- 3-month plan: $4.99
- 6-month plan: $7.99
- Lifetime plan: $14.99
Once either of those purchases is made, users will be able to have no ads in the app and be able to AirPlay to the Apple TV, and the Chromecast too.
Overall, I’m giving the app 3/4 stars. It’s not perfect but it’s a start. I don’t know how long the app will be on the App Store since it is still a bit of an odd and somewhat “illegal” app. However, it is still on there now, so get it while you can.
Rating: 3/4 stars
