Twitter is one of the most popular apps in the App Store but one of the things that originally made it popular was all of the third-party apps that had support for the service that would make it easier for users to have access to it and give users the option to use the service with a different app and interface.

A Twitter app that has been popular for a while is Tweetbot for both iOS and the Mac. It is an app that I have used for almost the entire time that I have been on Twitter. Although the Twitter app technically has more functions than Tweetbot, I still prefer Tweetbot because of the design and interface of the app, as well as the fact that my tweets are in chronological order. Twitter’s app does have the option for it but it is not in the format that I like.

Tweetbot for the iPhone and iPad has themes to it too. It had a Dark Mode even before Apple put it in iOS 13 last year. On top of that, it has a cool Space Gray and orange theme that makes the app look and “feel” better during the fall season and when Halloween is around the corner.

Additionally, with Tweetbot, even though the app does not have its streaming feature anymore, which was more useful for me on its Mac version, it still is a great app. Streaming on a Twitter app means that you don’t have to pull down on the app in order for it to refresh because it is already doing that for you in the background.

Tweetbot is currently available in the App Store for $4.99 and available in the Mac App Store for $9.99.

Another option that is out there is Twitterrific, which, again, like Tweetbot, is available for both iOS and Mac.

Twitterrific does have its own themes too and a different type of interface compared to the looks of Tweetbot. Both apps have a lot of the same features but that they are simply renamed. Whether this is done intentionally or not is unknown, it is quite cool to see how clever these app developers can get.

One difference between the two apps is that Twitterrific does have more customization tools, specifically when it comes to the font and size of the font on your timeline. The profile icon is another added touch you can customize in the app.

Twitterrific is currently a free app in the App Store but has in-app purchases to pay for the app in a subscription format. The monthly price is 99 cents, the annual price is $9.99 and the one-time forever price is $29.99. There is a Mac version of the app too that costs $7.99.

Now, we usually mention those two third-party apps, but there are a couple others that might be worth looking into:

The first one is Echofon. It is available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Mac. The iOS version of the app is available for free and to get the Pro version of it (gets rid of ads), that will cost $4.99 as a one-time purchase.

It’s available on the Mac too for free and there is a premium version of the app that costs $9.99 in the Mac App Store, but had not been updated until just last week. Before that, it had not been updated since 2016.

The last Twitter app that I will mention for this is Fenix for Twitter. This app is only available on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, as there is currently not a version of the app for the Mac.

To be honest, the app does look a lot like Tweetbot for iOS and has a clean UI. To make it even better, it does only have a one-time app purchase of $4.99. Once you’ve have paid for that, you have full access to the app.

Yes, both of Twitter’s apps for iOS and Mac (Twitter and TweetDeck) are free. However, perhaps paying for a Twitter app like the ones mentioned above could make your experience on Twitter a lot better.

Let us know in the comments if you are going to be buying a third-party Twitter app in the near future or if you are currently already using one.
