Apple will most release iOS 13.5 & iPadOS 13.5 on Wednesday, May 20th. Apple had released iOS & iPadOS 13.4.5 Beta 1 on Tuesday, March 31st which gave users the ability to share Apple Music content on their Instagram Stories following which Apple released Beta 2 on Wednesday, April 15th.
After 2 weeks, on Wednesday, April 29th, Apple released iOS & iPadOS 13.5 Beta 3. The version number was intentionally changed from iOS 13.4.5 to iPadOS 13.4.5 as a new Xcode beta update (Xcode 11.5) was released alongside iOS 13.5 beta 3 which included a new API for the Exposure Notification Platform. This beta also improved the way you unlock your iPhone during these times where one has to wear a mask. For a Face ID Device, if you’re wearing a mask, your iPhone will detect it and directly take you to the passcode screen upon swiping up. Read more about it here.
A week later, on Wednesday, May 6th, Apple released iOS & iPadOS 13.5 beta 4 which enabled users to opt out of COVID-19 Exposure Notifications along with other bug fixes.
iOS 13.5 & iPadOS 13.5 was rumored to be released during Mid-May. Since Apple has released all the betas except for the first one on Wednesdays, iOS 13.5 & iPadOS 13.5 will most likely be released on Wednesday, May 20th. This update will be available for all devices supporting iOS 13 and can be downloaded Over-The-Air in Settings>General>Software Update once it has been publicly released by Apple.
