Apple announced a very handy feature Car Key with iOS 14 in their 31st World Wide Developers Conference held in an all-new online format on June 22nd, 2020. With iOS 14, Users can add a virtual Car Key of a supported car to the Wallet App on your iPhone. Apple announced that the new 2021 BMW 5 series will be among the first cars to be supported. You can also share your Car Key with your Friends and Family through iMessage. You’ll get two options while sharing a Car Key: a) Unlock and Drive where it gives the iMessage recipient full access to the car, b) Restricted Driving where it gives the iMessage recipient limited/restricted access to the car. Along with iOS 14, this feature will also be added on iOS 13.6. It also has a ‘Power Reserve’ which allows the virtual Car Key to be used for upto 5 hours after your iPhone battery dies according to Apple’s claims.
