Apple in its annual September “Time Flies” event has announced its latest generation of the Apple Watch. This new generation is called the Apple Watch Series 6. It comes within 40 and 44-millimeter variants. There is also an LTE option for users with an E-sim 4G plan.
The new Apple Watch comes in an Aluminium, Stainless Steel, and Ceramic Apple Watch Edition version. Series 6 also becomes the first Apple Watch to be shipped with WatchOS 7 alongside the lower end Apple Watch SE. It now adds Blood-Oxygen monitoring system dubbed VO2 which can tell the user if their oxygen level is not adequate. This works in conjunction with the other health features already present in the Apple Watch like ECG and Fall Detection. This year Apple has also ditched the force touch layer present in the bezel of the Apple Watch in favor of a slightly larger battery. Â However, this is yet to be confirmed by Apple.
The Series 6 now adds 20% faster charging, an Always-on Altimeter to track your elevation and is 2.5 times brighter outdoors with the Always-On Display. Alongside these headlining features, Apple Watch Series 6 also adds 5GHz Wi-Fi and Apple’s U1 UltraWide Band Chip.
This latest revision continues the Apple-Hermes Partnership with new watch faces and bands exclusive to the Series 6 Hermes edition. Apple has also confirmed that the bands for the Series 6 will be compatible with all the previous Apple Watches. This list also includes the newly announced Apple Watch SE.
The Series 6 is available for pre-order today and will ship to customers this Friday.
