Earlier this week, Apple debuted the second generation Apple TV 4K along with its redesigned Siri Remote. While many customers agree that it will be an improvement over the previous remote, Digital Trends discovered a missing feature to take note of.

The new Siri Remote actually lacks an accelerometer and a gyroscope as well. Both of these technologies are used for gaming. The original remote had these technologies. Therefore, some games will not be compatible with this new remote. When customers open up an incompatible game in tvOS 14.5, it will display the following message: “To play this game on your Apple TV, you need to connect the Apple TV Remote (1st generation) or a compatible PlayStation, Xbox or MiFi controller.”

I personally don’t think it’s going to be a big deal. After all, most gamers would most likely have a dedicated gaming controller. Nonetheless, this omission is worth noting to Apple TV customers.

How do you feel about this omission for the remote? Do you really game on Apple TV? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us at @Appleosophy.
