On Monday, Apple announced that it will invest $1 billion dollars to open another campus in around Raleigh, North Carolina. The upcoming campus will employ 3,000 people with IT careers. Apple currently has its headquarters (Apple Park) in Cupertino, CA, and will also open its second campus in Austin, TX next year.
Opening a new campus in North Carolina’s Research Triangle area provides a deep connection between Apple’s leadership. First, CEO Tim Cook, COO Jeff Williams, senior VP Eddy Cue are all alma maters from Duke University. It will also open doors to employees living in the East coast.
Apple will still headquartered in the Silicon Valley with 147,000 total full-time employees. At the same time, it will see its expansion in employment over the next five years, including in cities like San Diego and Seattle.
