According to new reports from Bloomberg and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is developing a new model of MacBook Air.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has remarked some info about the next MacBook Air that also echoes Jon Prosser and Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo.
Gurman notes that the new MacBook Air will be “a higher-end laptop that features the next Apple Silicon chip ”“ likely called M1X ”“ and two USB-C ports. M1X is also expected to increase the graphics cores from 7-8 to 9-10.”
Reliable leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser has additionally shown what colors the new MacBook Air will have. Apparently, it looks like the MacBook Air will follow the footsteps of the 2021 iMac and current iPad Air models to feature seven bright colors.
Prosser says that the machine will lose its iconic tapered design and will be significantly thinner. He also notes that the next MacBook Air will sport a smaller trackpad, larger function keys on the keyboard and redesigned feet that lie under the device.
Other additions expected to arrive in the next MacBook Air include returning ports like HDMI, SD Card slot, and MagSafe.
And if all of aforementioned features are not enough, it will also sport a Mini-LED display, making use of miniaturized backlighting and featuring over a thousand full-array, locally-dimming (FALD) zones. Apple is already using this display on the 12.9″ iPad Pro.
Both Gurman and Prosser expect the next-gen MacBook Air to arrive in the second half of 2021 or in 2022.
