It’s no secret that CarPlay has forever changed the in-car dashboard and display system for a plethora of car manufacturers across the world. With its increased popularity and usage, that could me it could get more functionality.

Bloomberg has reported that Apple is looking to have CarPlay get new features such as being able to control a vehicle’s air conditioning, seat movements and other different functions.

Right now, CarPlay’s features include controlling music from Apple Music, Spotify, SiriusXM and other streaming music providers, as well as GPS directions, viewing your calendar, sending text messages and answering phone and Microsoft Teams calls. Heck, you can even place orders to Dunkin’ from it now too.

While there is no timeline for when or if this will happen, it is certainly on the discussion table for car companies and manufacturers. If anything, the added A/C unit and other controls could be added to CarPlay, but only for select cars and manufacturers.

Would you like to see CarPlay get A/C unit and other new deeper connections and functions in a vehicle? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.
