SharePlay has been out for a short time, but competing apps such as Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ have added support in the past few months for this feature.
Right now, the Paramount+ app does not have support for it even though streaming service app Pluto TV, which are both owned by Paramount Streaming, does have support for SharePlay.
Even if the Paramount+ app does not support SharePlay, there is a way to use it. This would be by subscribing to the service through Apple TV Channels in the Apple TV app. It costs $9.99 a month, includes all of the content on Paramount+ and your local CBS station, and does not have any ads.
SharePlay is also available in the Showtime app which is owned by Paramount Media Group and can be subscribed to through Apple TV Channels.
Here is how to activate SharePlay on Paramount+ on Apple TV Channels:
- Open the Apple TV app
- Scroll to the Apple TV Channels section
- Go to Paramount+
- Find the program you are wanting to stream
- Put a finger on it and hold it to bring up more information
- Tap the “Share” button and you will then be shown the SharePlay button that will enable you to use that feature
In order to use SharePlay on an iPhone or iPad, the user must be running iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 or newer.
