Today during the Far Out event, Apple officially announced the long-awaited AirPods Pro 2 earbuds as the highest-end flagship AirPods product since 2020. The Pro 2 can cancel noise twice as much compared to the first model.

Powered by the improved H2 chip, the second-generation AirPods Pro delivers better sound quality and stiffer rougher noise cancellation – 2x more compared to the previous version. The company states that the earbuds offer “richer bass and crystal-clear sound across a wider range of frequencies.”

Transparency Mode has been improved as well, the feature – now called Adaptive Transparency – will now remove harsh noises using the H2 chip while listening to music and keep users comfortable listening and in the outside world.

Spatial Audio can also be customized by using Personalized Spatial Audio which will let users distinguish sound individually, based on the shape and size of the ears and head. And by using the front camera sensors, the earbuds will create a personal pattern for the user for a better experience.

For the earbuds themselves, one new addition is Touch control. Users will be able to control the sound volume without the need to use their phones. Simply by swiping up or down on the force touch sensors, the volume can be adjusted.

Meanwhile, the wireless charging case has gained a significant improvement for better durability and findings. The charging case is now water and sweat-resistant and sports a built-in speaker as well as support for lanyard loop attachment for easier finding. The case can also be identified using the Find My app’s Precision Finding.

When it comes to battery, Apple says the AirPods Pro 2 offers 6 hours of usage on a single charge. The case can be charged with the Apple Watch charger in addition to lightning and MagSafe.

Finally, the AirPods Pro 2 will cost $249, orders will start on September 9th and will be publicly available on September 23rd. The earbuds will also come with extra ear tips to include a variety of buyers as well as new Memoji engravements for free.
