The Apple Watch Ultra has been widely acclaimed as the most innovative smartwatch that Apple has made in years with the largest and brightest OLED display ever in an Apple Watch. According to today’s report from DigiTimes, it seems we have a good idea of what the next generation of Apple Watch Ultra would look like.
The report indicates that the next Ultra will feature a 10% larger display, and it will most likely be the first Apple Watch model with a 50mm case size. Secondly, this upcoming smartwatch is expected to pioneer the more advanced microLED display technology, which would be the first on an Apple Watch. This display technology would allow for an improved contrast ratio as well as enhanced power efficiency.
Because of the advances in this display technology, expenses for production are very high, so we will see the microLED technology make its way to lower-end Watch models in the coming years.
It’s unclear if we would get this smartwatch this year, but if history repeats itself, we could see a two-year update cycle for the Apple Watch Ultra, similar to the SE. It would also be cool if Apple offers a smaller Watch model for those with smaller wrists, but we haven’t heard any reports on that. Still, there’s a lot to look forward to for the next Apple Watch Ultra. If you like this article and want more Apple-related stories, make sure you follow us on @Appleosophy.
