watchOS 10 will be the biggest leap in the Apple Watch’s operating system since the original version. The good news is that all of the Apple Watch models that support watchOS 9 will be compatible with the upcoming watchOS 10. This includes:

  • Apple Watch Series 4
  • Apple Watch Series 5
  • Apple Watch SE (1st and 2nd generation)
  • Apple Watch Series 6
  • Apple Watch Series 7
  • Apple Watch Series 8
  • Apple Watch Ultra

Please note that you’ll need an iPhone running the upcoming iOS 17 to install watchOS 10 on your Apple Watch. The bad news is iOS 17 has dropped support for A11-based iPhones – iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. However, if you have any of the later models that can run iOS 17, you’re good to go.

watchOS 10 will most likely be released around September to the public along with iOS 17, the same time when Apple introduced the next generation of iPhones and Apple Watches.
