Apple has just unveiled new iterations of the high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with the M3 family of chips with up to 128GB of memory at its “Scary fast” event. They have now started offering users the option to configure their 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M3 chip featuring an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU which can be configured with up to 11-core CPU and up to 14-core GPU with memory options of 8GB, 16GB, and 24GB along with storage options of 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. The regular M3 configuration is only available for the MacBook Pro in 14-inch, whilst the M3 Pro and M3 Max are available for both the 14-inch and 16-inch models.

The base M3 Pro features an 11-core CPU and a 14-core GPU and can be configured with up to a 12-core CPU and up to 18-core GPU while the M3 Max chip boasts a 14-core CPU and a 30-core GPU and can be configured with up to a 16-core CPU and up to 40-core GPU.

One interesting change that caught my attention is that Apple is now offering a 70-watt Power Adaptor in the box for all the 14-inch M3 models and for the base M3 Pro chip with an 11-core CPU and a 14-core GPU. Previously, the base 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro chip with a 10-core CPU and a 16-core GPU included a 67-watt Power Adaptor in the box which was upgradable to a 96-watt Power Adaptor for $20. Apple still offers the option to upgrade to the 96-watt adaptor with the M3 variants as well.

All 16-inch models will continue to use the 140-watt Power Adaptor.

Pricing and Availability: The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M3 chip starts at $1,599, and $1,499 (U.S.) for education, and the 14‑inch MacBook Pro with the more advanced M3 Pro chip starts at $1,999 and $1,849 for education. The 16‑inch MacBook Pro starts at the same price of $2,499 for the M3 Pro variant and $2,299 for education. All the new models can be ordered today with availability beginning on Tuesday, November 7.
