Apple has started rolling out macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 to the public with bug fixes and important security updates. This update comes a little over three weeks after the release of macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 which also came with bug fixes and security improvements.
According to Apple’s Release Notes, macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 “provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users.
Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices. For detailed information about the security content of this update, please visit:Â https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222“
Notably, Apple has patched two actively exploited vulnerabilities in this update including:
1. WebKit: This vulnerability may disclose sensitive information when processing web content. Apple has improved input validation to address this issue. Apple says that this may have been actively exploited against iOS versions before iOS 16.7.1.
2. WebKit: This vulnerability may lead to arbitrary code execution as a result of processing web content. Apple has improved locking to address a memory corruption vulnerability that caused this. Apple says that this may have been actively exploited against iOS versions before iOS 16.7.1.
Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group has been credited for discovering & reporting these vulnerabilities.
This security update is available on all devices that support macOS Sonoma including:
- MacBook Air (2018 and later)
- MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
- iMac (2019 and later)
- iMac Pro (2017)
- Mac mini (2018 and later)
- Mac Studio (2022 and later)
- Mac Pro (2019 and later)
