As the beginning of March just arrived, this means that we’re expecting huge updates across both the iPad and Mac lineups and possibly the first Apple event for this year to announce those products. However, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg came out with a report that we won’t be seeing any press events this month. Instead, Apple will announce those products via press releases and shorter product introduction videos. This would be similar to what Apple did when it announced the iPad 10, M2 iPad Pro, and M2-based MacBook Pro/Mac mini just over a year ago.
This turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment as Apple has several products that are enough to host a media event. However, what’s even more surprising is that those product announcements may arrive sooner than you think. A proven source told MacRumors that we’ll see new products coming out from Apple this week. This would be similar to what Apple did in March 2019. Apple announced the updated models for iPad mini/Air, iMac, and AirPods within three days consecutively.
- March 18, 2019 – iPad mini and iPad Air announced with A12 Bionic chip
- March 19, 2019 – iMac models got updated with 8th-generation Intel Processors
- March 20, 2019 – AirPods saw a second-generation update with an H1 chip
While it remains unclear which products could be announced this week, here’s an extensive list of all the products we can expect within the March-April timeframe:
- All-redesigned iPad Pro with M3 chip, OLED displays, a thinner design, a landscape-oriented front camera, and possibly MagSafe charging
- An updated iPad Air with M2 chip, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and an additional larger 12.9-inch model
- A second-generation Magic Keyboard with a partial metal enclosure and a larger trackpad. This accessory will be specifically designed for the redesigned iPad Pro.
- A third-generation Apple Pencil (not to be confused with the Apple Pencil [USB-C])
- Updated 13-inch/15-inch MacBook Air with M3 chip and Wi-Fi 6E
- A new color option for at least the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus (which is likely going to happen based on previous spring seasons)
- New color options for iPhone or iPad cases and Apple Watch bands
Other products that we could see in the first half of this year are a new Apple TV, a HomePod with a built-in display, and the fourth-generation iPhone SE. However, it’s unclear if Apple will release those products soon as other sources expect some products like the SE to be released the following year.
Although we’re not sure why we won’t have an Apple event this March, the hype may be still around the Vision Pro, and Apple is preparing more hype for that device for this year’s WWDC.
