The United Football League (UFL) kicks off its 2024 regular season this weekend with a slate of games that will air between FOX and ESPN.
With that said, there will be a couple of games that are going to be broadcast in 4K for Apple TV 4K users, according to TVAnswerman.com.
These are the following games on Saturday, March 30 that will be broadcast in 4K:
- Birmingham Stallions at Arlington Renegades at 1 p.m. ET on FOX
- St. Louis Battlehawks at Michigan Panthers at 4 p.m. ET on FOX
Here is how you can stream these games in 4K on your Apple TV 4K.
Our first method to stream the games in 4K will be through the YouTube TV and fuboTV live TV streaming services. Both of them offer the FOX 4K channels which will be showing the 4K through the 4K feed.
YouTube TV users will need the 4K Plus add-on with the service which costs an additional $9.99 a month.
The most convenient way to get access to the 4K stream will be through the tvOS FOX Sports app. All the user will have to do is sign in with their TV provider to the app and as long as your TV plan has FOX as a channel on it, you will be able to stream the game from the app and view it in 4K on their Apple TV 4K.
The source does say that the 4K streams are upscaled from 1080p.
“Fox’s 4K live sporting events are upscaled from 1080p HDR (High Dynamic Range). Upscaling is the process when one video format is converted to another. Fox takes the 1080p HDR signal and converts it to a 4K format. Upscaling 4K is not considered as good as native 4K, but the inclusion of HDR can offer heightened colors and vividness.”
