While we’re about six months away from the next Apple Watch launch, Apple is offering its employees huge discounts on both its Link Bracelet and Milanese Loop. These Apple Watch bands are metallic stainless steel bands that carry a huge premium over many Apple Watch bands.
At MSRP (USD), the Link Bracelet retails for $349 (silver) or $449 (space black), and the Milanese Loop retails for $99 in any finish. When employees head to Apple’s online store, they’ll see that both of those watch bands are discounted by 40%, with the Link Bracelet starting at $209 and the Milanese Loop starting at $59.
Additionally, Apple offers 50% off discounts on both of its special-edition Black Unity and Pride Edition bands, and even the Midnight Sport Band. Note that all of these discounts are available to only Apple’s employees.
This isn’t the first time we have seen huge discounts on Apple Watch bands for Apple’s employees. Apple previously offered huge discounts (90% off) on its Hermès bands just days before Apple’s annual September event. After the event, Apple introduced new luxury Hermès bands that aren’t made out of leather, but rather, woven-made.
Based on speculation, Apple may be trying to clear out its remaining inventory of its Apple Watch bands as its next-generation Apple Watch is expected to feature a redesigned mechanism that will not be compatible with existing watch bands today. In other words, the next Apple Watch may make current watch bands obsolete and useless. So if you’re planning to buy the next Apple Watch, you may want to hold off on buying any Apple Watch bands today.
