As Wi-Fi 6E becomes the standard across Apple’s latest Macs and iPhone 15 Pro models, and it’s also making its way across both the iPad Air and Pro, the latest Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 7, was recently introduced. This time, according to DigiTimes, the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models will widely be expected to become Apple’s first devices to adopt Wi-Fi 7.

Wi-Fi 7 is the next generation of the widely adopted wireless connectivity standard that will allow devices to send and receive data over the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously. This yields faster speeds, lower latency, and more robust connectivity. With theoretical peak data transfer speeds of at least 40 Gbps, Wi-Fi 7 can provide up to 4 times the internet speeds over Wi-Fi 6E.

Currently, the iPhone 15 models support the base Wi-Fi 6 standard while the iPhone 15 Pro models support the improved Wi-Fi 6E standard. Other features we can expect for the iPhone 16 Pro are the A18 Pro chip, a 48MP Ultra Wide camera lens, and a tetraprism telephoto camera on both sizes.

We expect Apple to announce its iPhone 16 lineup at its annual Apple event around September.
