With the college football season that officially kicked off this weekend, even more games are coming this week and the weeks to come where a select number of those games can be streamed in 4K.
According to TVAnswerman.com, there will be a few games this week that will be available to stream and watch in 4K. There are the following:
- August 29: North Carolina vs. Minnesota – 8 p.m. ET on FOX
- August 31: Penn State vs. West Virginia – 12 p.m. ET on FOX
- August 31: UTEP vs. Nebraska – 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX
There will be a few more games the next two weeks after the August 31 games too. Those games are these:
- September 7: Texas vs. Michigan – 12 p.m. ET on FOX
- September 7: Baylor vs. Utah – 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX
- September 14: Alabama vs. Wisconsin – 12 p.m. ET on FOX
- September 14: Oregon vs. Oregon State – 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX
As for how to stream these games, fans will have to be subscribed to a live TV streaming service such as YouTube TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, or Sling TV (Sling Blue or Sling Orange + Blue plans only, FOX only available in select TV markets on Sling TV) which all will have a FOX 4K channel. Those that have YouTube TV will also need to have the 4K Plus add-on for an additional $9.99 a month.
Another way to stream the games in 4K, when available, whether it is on FOX or FS1, is through the FOX Sports app. Those that use that route will have to sign in with valid TV provider credentials in order to stream the games live and in 4K from that app.
FOX’s 4K streams are upscaled from 1080p HDR, according to TVAnswerman.
“Fox takes the 1080p HDR signal and converts it to a 4K format. Upscaling 4K is not considered as good as native 4K, but the inclusion of HDR can offer heightened colors and vividness.”
All streaming services and apps mentioned above are available on the tvOS App Store for the Apple TV 4K.
