After 13 years of waiting, yearning and moaning from users about there being a lack of iPad support for the Snapchat social media app – the social media provider has now officially made an iPad approved app! You can download the regular Snapchat app from the App Store and use it natively sized in the portrait orientation without the awkward black borders and sizing like previously.
The parent company, Snap Inc. is yet to put out a statement on their Newsroom, but other news outlets have been able to confirm iPad support. The app’s compatability information now officially lists iPad as a compatible device for the app. This development comes even after the release of Snapchat for Web, which allows users to access their chats and send snaps via their web browser – opening the gates to people who may not have an up-to-date device or easy way to download apps to their phone.
Snapchat remains one of the most popular social media apps and new developments are yet to come. Could we see support for a landscape version of Snapchat or even extra native features for iPad users? Only time will tell and Appleosophy will break the news as it comes.
