To check your iPhone model, go to Settings>General>About. iOS 18 supports all iPhones that support iOS 17, so if you’re already running iOS 17, you’re good to go.

The most important step before updating your iPhone:

Remember to take a full backup either on iCloud, or your PC/Mac with Finder/iTunes. Updates. Backups usually take a while to complete as they’re typically large in size. To learn how to take a backup, click here.

Does your iPhone have enough space to update?

If your iPhone does not have enough storage space, your iPhone will let you know before you update your iPhone. However, it is safer to have more buffer storage available for your iPhone during the update, so if you have any apps or files you no longer require, you can delete those to reclaim your storage space.

One last step:

Make sure your iPhone has enough battery to update. It’s better to have a percentage above 50%. Even though you can update with a lower battery level for some updates, it’s better to have enough battery for your iPhone to complete updating. Alternatively, you can plug in your iPhone to a charger.

That’s it! You’re all set for iOS 18 — all you need to do after these steps is enjoy the new features. Click here to learn about the Top 12 features of iOS 18. Will you be updating to iOS 18?
