It’s dessert time, and it’s absolutely explosive as Apple is saving its most advanced silicon for last as it scales up from M4 and M4 Pro. The day before yesterday, Apple debuted its first Mac with M4 with the iMac. Yesterday, Apple debuted its first Mac with M4 Pro with the Mac mini. Today, the first Macs to be introduced with the incoming chip are the new MacBook Pros, which now feature the M4, and M4 Pro, and introducing M4 Max, designed for the most demanding tasks in mind. M4 14-inch MacBook Pro
The new base model of the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 gets a lot more value than ever before as it now starts with 16GB of faster unified memory. Thanks to the performance improvements offered by M4, the new 14-inch Pro is up to 1.8x faster than the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 for tasks like photo editing and up to 3.4x faster for more demanding workflows. Additionally, the new Neutral Engine is over 3x more powerful than the M1, to take full advanced of the latest Apple Intelligence features at blazingly fast speeds. This model finally has three Thunderbolt 4 ports, up from two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports on the previous M3 model, so users can connect even more accessories at once and even connect up to two external monitors in addition to the built-in display. Additionally, this model now also comes in Space Black in place of the Space Gray finish from the M3 model, bringing more parity to both the M4 and M4 Pro/Max.
M4 Pro 14-inch/16-inch MacBook Pro
Introduced in the Mac mini from yesterday, the M4 Pro is also making its way to both sizes of the MacBook Pro. Featuring a 14-core CPU (10 performance / 4 efficiency cores) and up to a 20-core GPU that’s twice as powerful as the M4, the M4 Pro takes the MacBook Pro to the next level to tackle even the most demanding workloads such as structural engineering. As previously announced on the Mac mini, the MacBook Pro with M4 Pro now features three upgraded Thunderbolt 5 ports, which provide transfer speeds of up to 120Gb/s.
M4 Max 14-inch/16-inch MacBook Pro
For pros who want to push their workflows to the limit, Apple introduces its most powerful chip in the M4 series – M4 Max. Featuring up to a 16-core CPU, up to a 40-core GPU, and over half a terabyte per second of unified memory bandwidth, and the next-generation Neural Engine that’s over 3x faster than M1 Max for Apple Intelligence, these MacBook Pros are true beastly powerhouses to take with you on the go. MacBook Pro with M4 Max also gets three Thunderbolt 5 ports as previously mentioned with M4 Pro.
World-Class Liquid Retina XDR Display Gets Substantial Improvements
Last year’s M3 MacBook Pro models saw slightly bright XDR displays at up to 600 nits of brightness for SDR content. With the new MacBook Pros, these displays can now go up to 1000 nits for SDR content. The peak brightness for HDR content remains the same at up to 1600 nits. Additionally, just like with the iPad Pro and iMac, the new MacBook Pro gets the new nano-texture display option that reduces reflections and glare, so users can see more of their content better, even in the brightest environments.
12MP Center Stage Camera makes its way to MacBook Pro
Introduced on iMac with M4, the upgraded 12MP camera is making its way to the MacBook Pro with the same Center Stage and Desk View features you also find with iMac, perfect for FaceTime video calls and collaborations on projects in real-time.

The new MacBook Pro with the M4 series of chips is available to order today, and initial shipments will arrive at Apple Stores and homes starting November 8.
