Apple rolls out iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 with important security updates

Apple has started rolling out iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 (22B91) to the public with important security fixes. These updates update come a little over three weeks after the release of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 which debuted Apple Intelligence, Call Recording, and more. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every 18.x.x update whilst also fixing security issues.

According to the Release Notes:

“This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.

iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 include fixes to 2 security flaws, according to Apple:

“JavaScriptCore

Impact: Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited on Intel-based Mac systems.

Description: The issue was addressed with improved checks.

WebKit

Impact: Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to a cross site scripting attack. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited on Intel-based Mac systems.

Description: A cookie management issue was addressed with improved state management.”

These updates are available on all devices that support iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 including:

  • iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • iPad Pro (2nd generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (6th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

In addition to these updates, Apple also rolled out iOS 17.7.2 and iPadOS 17.7.2 (21H221) for devices running iOS/iPadOS 17 with the same security fixes.
