Every Lunar New Year, Apple releases a special edition of AirPods for the past few years. So far, there has been a limited edition AirPods Pro for the following years:
- Year of the Ox (2021)
- Year of the Tiger (2022)
- Year of the Rabbit (2023)
- Year of the Dragon (2024)
But this year, for the Year of the Snake, Apple decided to offer a special edition of the regular AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation instead of the AirPods Pro. This special edition features an engraving of a snake on the USB-C case.
As you may know, the AirPods 4 is a more substantial upgrade to the standard AirPods. Introduced back in September of last year, AirPods 4 brings many of the features found in AirPods Pro 4 at an even lower price. It features the H2 chip, an integrated speaker for improved Find My support, support for charging via a USB-C cable or Apple Watch charger, Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, and Active Noise Cancellation without silicone ear tips. Note that many of the features listed are available on only the ANC model.
The Year of the Snake AirPods 4 is available to order in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore as those countries celebrate Lunar New Year, so those outside of those countries will be out of luck. Additionally, a limit of two of those special edition AirPods could be purchased for each customer.
Lunar New Year begins on January 29, and Apple is also rolling out a New Year sale in China with several discounts across many Apple products, including iPhone 16 models, AirPods, Macs, and iPads.
