Review: Beats Solo 4 Headphones

Last weekend, as an early birthday gift, I received the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones.

For the record, I do already own AirPods Max that I use quite frequently. However, I have been using the Beats Solo 4 headphones at my full-time job since it is a warehouse-like type of job and I do not feel comfortable wearing $500+ headphones.

With that said, here’s what I like about the Beats Solo 4 headphones.

To begin this, I will say that the headphones do have the classic Beats headphones design to them. I owned a pair of Beats headphones while in college and these are quite similar to them in design. The only difference now is that the Beats Solo 4s are Bluetooth headphones and connect wirelessly to my iPhone 15 Plus.

Another part of these headphones I do like is they are easy to connect to your iPhone or other Apple devices since they connect very much like AirPods, such as getting the little connect menu on your iPhone when you first turn them on with your iPhone nearby.

The noise cancellation on these is not as good as headphones like the AirPods Max, but even when working in a noisy warehouse, these still get the job done at a much cheaper price than said AirPods Max.

I also like that these charge with a USB-C cable, but did find it funny that the product does come with an aux cable in case you want to listen to your music through a device that still has an aux port on it.

As for comfort, they are pretty comfortable but I have noticed that since I wear glasses, the headphones tend to push the tops of my ears so that they press up against the Temple Tip of my glasses, making it so I have to adjust my glasses to not feel that irritating pain after a while.

Occasionally, you might have to take a break because your ears can get sweaty, but that could additionally depend on the environment you are in when you are using them.

However, if I had to say another part about these headphones is that I do not like that they play, pause, skip, and volume controls are on the left side instead of the right side. Most people are right-handed, so if that is the case, I’m not sure why the controls would be on the left side of the headphones instead of the right side?

The good news is that even though I have charged these headphones only once which was when I received them last weekend. I have yet to charge them since, as I have had no need to charge them. The battery life is exceptional.

Apple does state that the battery life for the Beats Solo 4 headphones are up to 50 hours, which definitely matches what I have been seeing from them.

While they are not as noise-canceling as higher end headphones like the AirPods Max or Beats Studio Pro headphones, the Beats Solo 4 headphones are still well-worth the money for those that need something that is good enough but not too much on the wallet and bank account.

With that said, these headphones get 4/5 stars from me. They are not perfect, but nothing in this world is. For what they have done for me in the past week is nothing short of amazing and I’m fortunate to not only have these given to me as an early birthday gift, but also that Apple and Beats by Dr. Dre are still making headphones for people do not need or cannot afford the higher quality type of headphones.
