Apple has announced updates to its Apple Sports app, introducing widgets and extending its reach to eight additional countries. This development aligns with the commencement of the football season, facilitating improved access to sports information for users worldwide.

The latest enhancements include widgets compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices, enabling users to view live scores and schedules directly from their home screens. These widgets offer two primary configurations: a “My Teams” option that focuses on your favorited squads, or a “League” view covering every team in a specific competition. You can add as many as you like, tailoring them for a personalized experience.

Building upon the existing Live Activities feature, which delivers real-time notifications to the iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch. Now, you can schedule these in advance for any event listed in the app. This means no more missing the kickoff—your device will alert you as soon as things heat up.

The Apple Sports app is now accessible in Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, broadening its user base across Europe. Concurrently, the application has augmented its coverage of European soccer leagues, such as the 2. Bundesliga, Ligue 2, Segunda División, Serie B, and Primeira Liga.

Users should ensure their devices are equipped with the most recent versions of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS and download the latest version of the Apple Sports app from the App Store. For iPad-specific widgets, the app must be installed directly on the device.
