You snooze, you lose: iPhone Pocket already sold out

Earlier this week, Apple announced one of its most bizarre products we’ve seen in years: the iPhone Pocket. Designed in collaboration with ISSEY MIYAKE, this limited-edition accessory is crafted using a 3D-knitted construction, and it’s made to hold your iPhone and to carry with you in many forms. Orders began earlier this morning, and just like that, all colors and configurations are already quickly sold out, at least on Apple’s Online Store in the United States! By the time you’re reading this, I’m sure that this accessory has sold out in other countries as well.

You could snag one up in any of the following Apple Store locations while supplies last:

  • Apple Canton Road, Hong Kong
  • Apple Ginza, Tokyo
  • Apple Jing’an, Shanghai
  • Apple Marché Saint-Germain, Paris
  • Apple Myeongdong, Seoul
  • Apple Orchard Road, Singapore
  • Apple Piazza Liberty, Milan
  • Apple Regent Street, London
  • Apple SoHo, New York City
  • Apple Xinyi A13, Taipei

The iPhone Pocket is available in these sizes and colors:

  • Short (priced at $149.95): Lemon, Mandarin, Purple, Pink, Peacock, Sapphire, Cinnamon, and Black
  • Long (priced at $229.95): Sapphire, Cinnamon, and Black

As you can see, although the prices for the iPhone Pocket’s configurations were already exorbitant, in my opinion, I was quite shocked to see how quickly the iPhone Pocket sold out, similar to how Starbucks’ “Bearista” cup quickly sold out just hours after it came out last week. We’ll definitely see the resale value skyrocket substantially when lucky customers decide to resell their iPhone Pockets on places like eBay. In many ways, the iPhone Pocket reminds me of the iPod Socks that Apple introduced in October 2004, which were made to store/protect your iPods and keep them warm during the cold winters; unlike the iPhone Pocket, it wasn’t a limited-edition product, so Apple sold this accessory until its quiet discontinuation in September 2012.

All in all, the iPhone Pocket is just another one of the latest fads that took the internet by storm, and the hype of it will eventually wind down. Do you happen to have ordered the iPhone Pocket?
